Step 1
Download PWNAGE tool from Here. Unzip to install.
Step 2
Open PWNAGE and select 3G. Click the blue next arrow at the bottom.

Wait for PWNAGE tool to discover your firmware version or search for it if not found. Select FW version iPhone1,2_2.0.1_5B108 and click the blue next arrow.
Step 4
Select General and hit the blue next arrow. Since we are not unlocking the phone make sure that you uncheck activate phone and hit the black back arrow.
Step 5
Next select custom packages and click the blue next arrow. Just make sure that Cydia and Installer are slected. You can pick either or but I prefer to have both. (On a side note Installer is still in Beta so there will be many many bugs.) After you had made your choice click the black back arrow.
Step 6
This next step is voluntery. Click Custom Logo and click the blue next arrow. At this point you can change your boot and restore logos to anything which you desire as long as it meets the requirements on the bottom of the screen.
Step 7
Now it is time to build your custom firmware. Check the build button and click the blue next arrow. Now you will be asked what you want to name your firmware and where you want to save it. That is all up to you but I choose to save it to my desktop.
Step 8
Grab something to eat or drink while you wait out the firmware building process.
Step 9
Finish up that sandwich its time to actually do something again. Even if you have already PWNED your phone it is always best to start from DFU mode. There are two ways to go about this. You can click no and follow the pretty instructions or you could click yes and put it into DFU on your own or just do a regular restore.
Step 10
Once you are in DFU mode it is time to install your custom firmware package. To choose your firmware you are going to click alt+click. This will bring up a window that allows you to find your custom made firmware. Click your firmware and let iTunes run its course.

Enjoy your new PWNED 2.0.1 iPhone 3G with Installer and Cydia.

To do this you will leave activate selected and hit the blue next arrow which will bring you to the bootneuter selection and just make sure that everything is checked besides downgrade/upgrade baseband. If you updated to 2.0 or 2.0.1 before using a PWNAGE tool then you will need to either upgrade or downgrade your baseband. I use 4.6 instead of 3.9 but that is just personal preference. Now click the black back arrow.

This is only a OS X guide so sorry to my windows readers. But it is just as simple with a windows SSH client.
Step 1.
You will need to get an SSH client. I prefer to use Cyberduck which is a free program. You can download Cyberduck HERE.
Step 2.
Once you have an SSH client you will need to open the client and turn on your phones WIFI.
Step 3.
Now find your phones IP address which can be found in your WIFI network menu by simply clicking the little blue arrow on the right side. Once you have located the IP address you will need to insert that into the connect box.
Step 4.
Once you have entered the IP address make sure that you are going to SSH and not try to connect to an FTP or other server.
Step 5.
Enter your root information. The username is root and the password is alpine. Both are lowercase.
Step 6.
You will be asked if you want to allow this connection to which you would select allow or always allow.
Step 7.
Congratulations you are now connected to your iPhones file system. Make sure while you are making changes that your phone screen remains active. If your phone goes into hibernate you will need to wake up your phone and wait for it to reconnect.
